I defy anyone with a beating heart not to be inspired and moved by the Mind over Marathon BBC documentary. Those ten incredibly brave people who suffer from depression not only started running in order to take part in the London marathon, but supported one another through the whole process, showing that depression doesn’t mean being weak, quite the contrary.
I hope it will give hope and comfort to those who suffer from mental illness. I hope it will make them feel less alone and judgemental towards themselves. And I hope viewers who think suffering from depression means 1) being crazy 2) feeling a bit down 3) a sign of weakness 4) something others only suffer from will finally get the wake-up call they so badly need.
